What is the meaning of death? Death, as a concept, has been the focus of many other comics: I Became the Tyrant of a Defense Game, brilliant as it is, decided to focus on the finality of death with its consequences and weight. Its answer was: the meaning of death is persistence in the face of the end, resilience by subtraction.

Heavenly Demon Cultivation Simulation, instead, made death a necessary step towards success. The meaning of death is struggle. To die is to conquer the end, and win.

SSS Suicide Hunter picks up from this same last premise, but arguably goes beyond it. Death then becomes not a simple tool to win the struggle, but a way to understand people, and the world. It's no mere analysis by iteration, it's using death to explore life.

Because the meaning of death... is life.

Without permanent death, what remains is life and pain. And so, the entirety of Gongja's existence is so full of them that you will get addicted. You will partake in his desire for acknowledgement, while he uses a gòddamn skill penalty, of all things, as his sight.

He won't accept a life devoid of a sense, and he will build that very sense with his own blood and bones. Will those run out first, or will his sanity? Only one way to know it!

Technically, I've seen better. Both by art, and writing style. The first is good, stable, but lacks shine. The second, maybe due the translation, is a tiny bit unnatural in form. No matter: this is a manga about incredible characters. The focus is on that, only that, so it's able to reach unheard peaks of emotional intensity.

It's a rarity, but the substance of the writing is miles ahead its form. If it managed to make murim logic make sense to me, nothing is beyond its storytelling prowess; not even that rara avis, the action-romance tag.

I like it because it's both entertaining and profound. It's touching, approachable, but not superficial. That is not an easy result to muster. Hence, my GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern) is conferred.

Kinda overated, said the plot is unique
However this uniqueness comes from Mc being able to solve most or literally any problem simply through regressing by committing suicide, he gets treated like a kid by some of side characters however still works hard to get their approval, he also acts like someone who lacks real world experience even tho he's built up a ton of experiences through his countless mistakes regressions.
Had to skipp through some chapters like the ones of the Murim arc.
The characters are drawn nicely tho, especially the females
That's it for me, but for others idk...
Also the sword he had for most of the story looks Lame Asf

The story telling and world building of each arc and the monsters/NPC's background is writen beautifully. However imo the pacing is a bit slow and makes some chapters a bore to read

Art is mesmerizing, plot is top notch, and the characters are multi-dimensional and so in depth, and the romance, THE ROMANCE IS FUC**** ETHEREAL.

binged it all.

There is a few things about this manhwa I would like to highlight. Depth. Characters. Art. Translation.

The depth is simply amazing. Though it may not be evident in the earlier chapters, as you read, you'll see the thoughtfulness behind each level of the tower. Breathtaking I say!!!!

Similar to depth, the characters are well built. Side characters don't seem like lifeless stepping stools for the mc but rather people with actual stories.

Art and translation are top tier. Art may not be as good as ORV or Solo Leveling, but it does what it needs to do.

I don't want to judge, but after seeing some of the trending manhwa; y'all need some better taste in your libraries (no judgement). This is just the thing you need, trust. (No i'm not insulting the BL genre)

I'm confused about the author and how he made the mc :

The mc is supposed to be "unlucky", so he did not receive a good job/skill or whatever you want at the begining, so he get into depression.

Then, one day, luck get over 100%. If you don't understand what I meant here : first, the tower "get interested" in him, then the tower give him a skill, a trash skill if you consider the condition to be used. Then he luckily get killed by the only guy with the unique skill needed to make his newly skill obtained OP and randomly picked up that skill ...

Also, some people will disagree with me, but that mc is stupid. He is just assuming how the skill work, doesn't test anything and before coming back 11 years in time did not even planned to grab some good skills on the way. Oh, we must not forget the fact than he get back 11 years back but get the same appearance which prove the lack of explanation and mechanic on the skill by the author.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate or completely dislike this story but there are way too many things that kept being unexplained and the fact than the mc only relied on, not one lucky event but multiple lucky event is bugging me. That could have been written better I think.

Now their main points regarded the MC not obtaining skills as he went on a 11 year arc (not spoiling, go read :P) and it not being detailed enough. Well I would like to humbly apologize that this manhwa cannot be perfect? But to properly address the point, this is wrong in three points.

1. (SPOILERS HERE). In order to activate the skill, he has to be killed...and even then he's not guarenteed the skill, especially if they have multiple good ones. Then he has to convince people to kill him. And hunters are celebrities. The only reason why he met that grandpa and the fire king is because one is a lone wolf and the other beats people up. Not worth the effort.

2. It's easy for you to say this when you're reading from an omniscient perspective. It may seem obvious to us, who are levelheaded and can see everything on the playing field, but the MC isn't omniscient. This can be applied to simple things such as games and sports. But I won't get into that for the sake of the length of the review.

3. Hello? Not detailed? Now I know you're talking about the origins of the powers and such; but I believe that the current plot has such an immense amount of story building that it makes up for it. And...why are you (pardon my language) bitc****? I would love to see you come up with a story with as much depth as this. Though the plot may be cliche with the sudden "blessed with op power," the depth of MC's masters world, lord of rain and whatever's world, and his wife's world are breathtaking. As a writer and reader; your concerns are quite minimal and unreasonable...especially for granting it a 3/5.

if you give me (good) manga reccomendations, I'll be your bestie forever frfr

@Lilith

It's frustrating to be called names by people who don't take the time to read and understand others' opinions. I can handle criticism about my English or my review, but resorting to insults is just immature. That said, here's my response:
1. He needs to convince people, right? Well, since he's going to regress and aims for "big" skills, most of the people he's dealing with are probably high-rankers capable of defending themselves. Why not just show them he wants to kill them, and they'll defend themselves by killing him?
2. No one is omniscient, but it's common sense to plan something solid before undertaking an important task.
3. You know? Probably not, because my concern isn't the origin of the skill but how exactly the skill works. Anyone with a decent amount of common sense would try to understand and experiment with a newly acquired skill, especially one with such a painful and horrible condition as dying. Cliché plots aren't an issue—it's natural for stories to have similarities after all these years. My problem is that the author doesn't even follow his own rules from the beginning: the unlucky player suddenly becomes the luckiest guy. I'm not against one or two lucky events; without them, it would be really hard to do the "from zero to hero" storyline. But the number of lucky events happening in a short amount of time is just ridiculous, and it's not like he acquired a passive skill to increase his luck.
In the end, it's okay if you dislike my review. We all have different tastes in stories. But please, don't insult me and act like you understand everything. At least I’m not the one posting useless one-sentence reviews like "good sh**" or "fuc**** sh** story."

Feel free to dislike my comment or review – that’s your right! But at least I'm making an effort. If you can't handle different opinions, you might want to rethink being on the internet. Stay safe!

I would give about 4.8 stars. Only thing is that it couldve been slightly shorter on all of the seasons (?). It's nothing big though. I really recommend reading of you like ACTUAL romance and tower manhwas. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say much. The art style is really good as well as the story. It's written well and it really has details. It's a shame I found it too soon that it only has a little over 100 chapters. I really want to see where it goes. Have a wonderful time reading.

As of ch 115, this is one of the best action manhwas, on par with SL, ORV and the like.
Art is top tier, storyline is top notch, and the characters are multi-dimensional. The story got me so invested in every arc and before I knew it, I binged it all.
100/10, highly recommend.
